Bed and Breakfast Casa-Sueño is in
Lorcha/l'Orxa the last village on the Serpis River as
it flows through the province of Alicante on its way to
Gandía. Its ancient name, Perputxent, refers to the
valley where the village is located. In an agreement
with Jaime I, the village remained in the hands of the
Moorish leader Al-Azraq together with Benillup,
Alcanesia and Beniarrés. After the removal of the
Moorish leader the village passed into the hands of the
Order of the Knights Templars who governed and extended
Lorcha castle. The expulsion of the Moors destroyed the
economy and depopulated the other villages of the
dominion. In the village agriculture, oil and almonds
are combined with industry - a paper mill provides jobs
for most of the population. The L'Infern gully(l'estret
de l'Orxa)crosses the old railway track between Alcoy-Gandía.
